It is a common belief that the Unites States is not so much about one person one vote, but more a society based on property and the rights property give you. Hence women did not have the right to vote as they were not very likely to be land owners at the time.

Sometimes I have wondered why children who are human beings aren't allowed to vote. 12 year olds are often more intelligent than 18 year olds who have way more hormones running through their bodies and tend to make worse decisions. All people should have the same rights including children. This would get kids involved more and talking politics with their families. Children have no representation except through their parents. Can kids make good decisions with limited experience? They don't pay taxes generally so maybe they shouldn't allowed to vote until they are old enough to work. What age should they be allowed to work? Should that be up to the child to decide? Amish kids start working full time after eight grade and do alot of work on the farm well before then.
